Horror Vacui 02:55
Shit just got too real Real hard to believe Believe it gets better Better when we grieve Hits so close to home Home deep in the heart Heart-broken and numb Numbly felt you depart Visited to reach out too late And I don’t know if you knew Could you hear the words I never said? Understand the things I didn’t do? I see you - every time my mind goes blank This void must be filled Filled with what we created Created noise but still Still procrastinated Sith we bought a bottle Bottle up how we feel Feel there’s always time Time wounded this heel Visited to reach out too late And I don’t know if you knew Could you hear the words I never said? Understand the things I didn’t do? I see you - every time my mind goes blank Badger Pickle, 12th Jan 2019

Persephone 03:51
Dreaming of the sunshine, of a beautiful day Thinking of the fun times that she had on the way To her current condition, her incarceration Her unique position in this strange situation Back in Ancient Greece the dating game was crazy They'd promise you Olympus but put you through Hades Down with the chthonian, never got lonely Basking in the awesome glory of Persephone Daughter of the gods, held above all other girls told me all about her life before the underworld A heavenly childhood free from worries and woe Why the Fates conspired against her, we'll never know When she came of age, all the guys tried to woo her She refused to engage, but had a secret pursuer Hades hadn't opted for traditional seduction Suspecting he'd have more success with abduction In the fields of Nysa, she picked flowers with her ladies Concealed beneath her, that old devil called Hades He burst through the ground, dispersed her aides And dragged her back to his kingdom, to be Queen of the Shades Dreaming of the sunshine… This daughter of Demeter, a radiant creature, And everyone's favourite pomegranate seed eater Ended up below cos she was shafted by Zeus (Not literally cos that would be like child abuse) But it's still weird to offer your brother your daughter's hand And naturally her mother took her grief out on the land Crops failed, driving the cost of food to epic heights The citadel rocked to the Athenian riots People were starving and the tributes had grown lean To pacify Demeter Zeus had to intervene Forced Hades to release her, but Hades had been slick And fed his lady 4 seeds, a nifty trick For in the Kingdom of the Dead, any morsel that's consumed Stops the eater ever leaving so our heroine was doomed To spend 4 months of every year in the kingdom below That's why Demeter mourns each winter causing nothing to grow Dreaming of the sunshine…

It's been a while since I've indulged in psychobabble I thought that I had sorted out my brain But just cos I don't see demonic rabbits Doesn't mean that everything's okay Maybe you think I'm being overly dramatic - Well would you care to join me on the stage? I'm just as concerned with what you've got in the attic You throw your toys out of the pram, then tell me act my age! And you're making a fool of yourself But I won't let you make a fool out of me Cos that's too easy! It's been a while since I tried to reconcile The darkness that I failed to lock away I'd understand if you took me by the hand And said that you can't look me in the face So my demeanour's been unduly optimistic – I tried to give the public what it needs The painted smile isn’t convincing or realistic Can’t keep opening my heart up until it bleeds And you're making a fool of yourself But I won't let you make a fool out of me Cos that's too easy!

I don't like Mondays Or Tuesday thru Fridays But Saturday and Sundays Are cool cos they're my days I don't like travelling In a wedge lock of body heat What's stranger than strangers In almost coital proximity? That guy crushes my foot Youch! That smarts It's barely 8AM and I'm already longing for my bed But lo! The tide of humanity parts I'm enraptured by a vision A rhapsody in red The girl on the train Steams into my brain Displaces the pain I feel human again A sight for tired eyes Inspires a shy smile Who could deny Her effortless style? We’re packed like sardines But she still looks pristine Wipe my hands on my jeans How to show her I'm keen? Don't know the time of day Or the day of the week Or the month, or the year Everything's become clear I know that I'd speak to her If I didn't have headphones on But when I remove them Find all the words have gone! I know nothing about her That's endless potential She could be perfect for me She could also be mental Time stops, I silently sing my devotion The axle jams, the world's not spinning Brake's screech, our train ceases locomotion I'm afraid this is the end of our beginning Regretfully this station is her final destination Opportunity slips through the sliding doors She blights my dreams of marriage as she alights the carriage And is ab-sorbed into the exodus once more I'll never know her name And that's a doggone shame She scorched me with her flame I'll never be the same Despite her leaving the train Can’t get her off my brain I wish I’d made it plain It’s driving me insane She's the one that I seek Every day, every week But without her mystique The journey's so bleak I'm left feeling hollow It’s too much to swallow At work I just wallow In eternal sorrow… Hope I see her to-mor-row
